The Afghan players for the first time have a new hijab that is connected to the base layer under their national team shirt. This will help the women to play the game without having to compromise their beliefs.
The outfit was designed by Danish sportswear brand, Hummel, the company that also makes the national team uniforms for Denmark and Lithuania.

Playing football in Afghanistan is a risky business for women, so many members of the national team live in Europe.
When women are allowed to play in Afghanistan, they are usually required to wear a headscarf. But that often proves tricky with the cloth sometimes falling over the players' eyes.
How much this new jersey affects their level of play is yet to be determined. However, it will make it much easier for them to enjoy football without worrying about losing parts of their attire.
