Hijab style is having a moment: In January Dolce & Gabbana became one of the first designer labels to release a collection of hijabs and abayas, earlier this year we reported on the 'Hijarbie' the hijab wearing Barbie making it big on Instagram and Saman Munir the fashion blogger creating a stir for her modern take on hijab styling. Modest fashion is finally getting the attention it deserves.
And now Uniqlo are throwing their weight behind the movement creating a new range of hijab headscarves and kebayas, which aims to bring modest fashion to the masses.

The High Street brand have teamed up with Muslim fashion designer and blogger, Hana Tajima to create a hugely wearable range of hijabs, tops, jackets, trousers, skirts, dresses, and kebayas (traditional dress-style tunics) in fun patterns and luxe fabrics with a slick modern twist.
"Modest wear to me is a very personal thing. It's about how someone interprets that for themselves," Taji ma said in an interview with Uniqlo. "And so with the collection I really wanted to allow people to style the pieces in a way that felt like it was modest to them."
Inspired by her Japanese roots and British upbringing, Tajima's styling focuses on modern, functional designs, which are both culturally sensitive yet stylish. And teamed with Uniqlo's new AIRism fabric which is soft and breathable utilising stay-dry technology, the range is also hugely practical.
"We are thrilled to introduce the UNIQLO x Hana Tajima collection to the US market," explained Hiroshi Taki, Uniqlo USA CEO. "The collaboration connects Hana's personal style of modest fashion with our LifeWear concept of enhancing people's lives through clothing, including those who value modest wear. Every item from this collection is designed with quality, comfort, and style in mind."

Previously only available in Southeast Asia, the line has just launched throughout the US, and staying true to Uniqlo's affordable ethos prices range from a totally reasonable $49.90 (£35) for printed hijabs to $149.90 (£105) for kebaya.
The range comes as Uniqlo launch a new 'This Way to Utopia' campaign, which celebrates the vibrant cultural scene in London. To mark the relaunch of Uniqlo's glo bal flagship store in London on March 18th, the campaign, which is shot by Rankin, names Hana Tajima as one of six cultural ambassadors. The newly reopened store on London's Oxford Street will introduce a new concept area, The Uniqlo WearHouse, as a sort of cultural hub which will host unique events throughout the year.
